To celebrate International Day of Families on May 15, the Club’s charity, City in the Community (CITC), is highlighting how City Play Together sessions are making a difference in Greater Manchester.

CITC’s City Play Together programme supports two-to-five-year-olds across the city, helping families and their children to take part in physical activity together.

City Play Together is a free provision delivered in Youth Zones and Sure Start Centres across Manchester, that aims to empower parents to embed a healthy lifestyle at home, as well as developing parents’ skills, confidence, and self-esteem to allow them to do so.

One parent commented: “The sessions have definitely helped me understand more of my son’s character which has shaped the activities we do outside the sessions.”

Early Years Manager, Lois Daniels  said: “Our City Play Together programme is an incredibly important initiative to support local families across our community.

“Parents and carers attend the sessions with their young children, and take part in fun, inclusive and free provision with members of our Early Years team.

“Our curriculum is built around mini games that can be replicated at home, aiming to improve confidence, inspire and engage our families, and in turn help to provide children with the best start to life.”
