What happened...

Manchester City were held to their second draw of the Merit Group A stage of the U18 Premier League at West Ham United.

After an even start, Tom Dele-Bashiru opened the scoring for Lee Carsley’s side in the 34th minute. The 17-year-old collected the ball from Benjamin Garre and fired past Tyler Forde in the West Ham goal.

Aro Muric came to City’s rescue on the stroke of half-time, saving his third penalty in his last three U18 Premier League appearances.

West Ham’s equaliser came in the 69th minute with striker Joe Powell playing in Jahmal Hector-Ingram to finally find a way past Muric.

City made several changes throughout the second half but couldn’t force the winner at Little Heath.

The draw leaves City with five points from four matches in Merit Group A. Carsley’s team are in fifth place.

City welcome Reading to the City Football Academy in the U18 Premier League on Wednesday.

Lee Carsley made a host of changes from Wednesday’s FA Youth Cup final defeat.

Arijanet Muric remained in goal. He was protected by Ed Francis and Colin Rosler at centre-back with Jeremie Frimpong and Nathaniel Ogbeta on the right and left respectively.

Iker Pozo sat at the base of midfield behind Tom Dele-Bashiru and Ian Carlo Poveda with Luke Bolton and Benjamin Garre flanking striker Lorenzo Gonzalez.
