Manchester City stars Jadon Sancho and Phil Foden have played a crucial role in helping England to reach the quarter-final of the U17 European Championship.

Victories over Colin Rosler‘s Norway, Ukraine and the Netherlands saw England through to a quarter-final against Republic of Ireland with a perfect record.

Foden and Sancho both starred in all three matches while City goalkeeper Curtis Anderson remained an unused substitute for Steve Cooper’s team.

England began the campaign with a 3-1 win over Norway last Thursday that included a sweet curling effort from Foden who started in a right-wing berth.

It was the Ukraine tie just three days later that saw Sancho take centre stage. The tricky winger created two goals and scored another as his team beat Ukraine 4-0 to seal their quarter-final place with a match remaining.

Sancho was in scintillating form again on Wednesday; rounding off a neat team move started by Foden before tucking home his second of the day from the penalty spot.

The other quarter-finals are: Hungary v Turkey, Spain v France, Germany v Netherlands
