Gareth Taylor says City need to try and put a disappointing few days behind us and refocus on our pursuit of the WSL title.

A 4-3 penalty shootout defeat to Tottenham Hotspur saw our FA Cup journey brought to an end at the quarter-final stage at Brisbane Road.

Bethany England’s equaliser at the death cancelled out Mary Fowler‘s early strike, which had looked destined to see us through to the last four.

That defeat came 72 hours after a slender 1-0 reverse against Chelsea in the Continental Cup semi-finals, but City are still in a strong position to challenge for the league crown.

With just goal difference separating us from the summit, Taylor has called for his players to knuckle down and maintain that push, starting next week against Brighton.

He said: “We need to get back to it, work and really analyse what we needed to do better today.

“It’s a collective thing with the players, they’re very honest and will be back at it on Tuesday.

“We look forward to the game against Brighton. We need to have the bit between our teeth a little bit more, because the WSL is really important.”
