Matchwinner Lauren Hemp described City’s 2-1 triumph over Everton as a 'massive win', after her second half strike fired Gareth Taylor’s side to the top of the Barclays WSL table.

On our return to club action after the February international break, Hemp’s brilliant second half strike added to Bunny Shaw’s first half opener to put City in control at the Joie Stadium.

Though Everton narrowed the deficit with a fine Hannah Bennison effort, City deservedly held on to secure what was a 12th successive win across all competitions and one which Hemp believed was priceless.

“That was a massive win. We needed that today coming off the international break,” the England international reflected.

“We wanted to hit the ground running like we did before the break and that was the most important thing.

“Obviously it’s also nice to contribute with a goal.

“I could have added a couple more to be honest, but we got the job done which was the most important thing.”
