Jill Roord says her recovery from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament is ‘going well’ before outlining the next steps in her rehabilitation.

The Dutch midfielder was a special guest on Matchday Live for City’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg with Real Madrid alongside Shaun Goater and Izzy Christiansen.

Roord enjoyed a dream start to life at the Club before her injury in late January, grabbing eight goals in 16 appearances in all competitions.

And she reflected on that swift transition to her new surroundings, while also revealing the progress she’d made in recent weeks as her recovery steps up.

“I’m good. Nine weeks ago I had my surgery,” Roord explained.

“Everything’s going well, and, in a few weeks, I’ll be running again which is exciting. Obviously, it’s a long process but so far, it’s going really well.”

“I feel like coming here, everything went very easy. The way City play and feel about football in training and games suits me perfectly.

“It was easy for me to start playing here. I’ve really enjoyed my time so far.”
