City manager Gareth Taylor says he’s expecting a ‘tough challenge’ from Tottenham this weekend.

City take on Tottenham on Saturday at Brisbane Road, kick-off 11:30am (UK time).

Taylor’s team are looking for back-to-back wins after defeating Leicester 4-0 this past weekend.

That result lifted us to eighth in the Barclays Women’s Super League, just one spot behind Spurs.

Our victory over the Foxes, courtesy of goals from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw (2), Lauren Hemp and Yui Hasegawa, puts us on three points from three games.

Tottenham have six points from that same span of matches, beginning the season with a 2-1 away win at Leicester before falling 4-0 in their away derby at Arsenal.

They defeated Liverpool 1-0 at home in their last game heading into this weekend’s fixture.

Taylor knows it’s a tough assignment but is hoping for more of the same from his players after the Leicester win.

He said: “Any team you face in the WSL is a tough challenge.

“They’ll always provide a tough opposition for us.

“In the games against them previously, whether in cup competition or in the league, they have been fairly tight.

“We’ve pretty much come out on the right side of the result every time apart from last season here.

“I think it’s a good game for us, I am looking forward to the game and seeing us produce similar levels of performance as we did last Sunday.

“[Tottenham] It’s a big club. They’re getting closer to where they were previously, most will say there’s big levels to try and hit but it makes for an exciting league.

“Teams are improving their infrastructure and levels across the board. It adds to an exciting league.”
