Gareth Taylor says Alanna Kennedy has shown in recent games exactly what she is capable of.

The Australia international - a summer signing from Tottenham Hotspur - has featured regularly at centre-back, deputising admirably in captain Steph Houghton‘s absence.

The 27-year-old endured a challenging and stop-start beginning to her City career, as she looked to adjust to a new team, new playing style and new teammates.

Having helped the Continental Cup winners to three successive clean sheets, the defender has impressed and Taylor has been pleased with her progress.

“She’s done well,” he said. “It takes time and rhythm.

“She has played at centre-back a lot but played as a holding midfielder for Spurs. It takes time to adapt, like it did with Ruby [Mace] and Alex [Greenwood].

“Playing her at centre-back, you can see how far she’s taken her game. Sometimes, it takes getting things wrong and the players don’t like that but that’s part of the process to get to where you need to get to.

“She’s proving what she’s capable of.”
