Gareth Taylor has heaped praise on Chloe Kelly ahead of City’s WSL clash with Spurs, describing her as a ‘driving force’ behind last week’s memorable Manchester derby win.

The winger set up Jill Roord for our equaliser at Old Trafford, with the visitors going on to claim a deserved 3-1 win.

It’s been a standout campaign for the England international so far, with her tally of five goals also seeing her lead the City scoring charts so far.

And Taylor highlighted her performance against United, as well as that of her fellow winger Lauren Hemp, as an example of our attacking threat when we hit our stride.

Asked if Kelly was playing some of her best football for the Club at present, the boss said: “It’s hard to say, because she came in and had a really good first season with us before that long term injury with the ACL.

“It took some time to come back, brilliant moment with the Lionesses by scoring that goal but we knew last season would be difficult to get back into it.

“We saw moments but in terms of being a threat at the top end and the quality she brings, she’s in a good place.

“We’re always pushing her to do more, we create a lot, she creates a lot but can do more and score more.

“But players like Chloe who gets the bit between her teeth, we saw that on Sunday, she was a really driving force behind a lot of the good things we did.

“And Lauren as well, she was outstanding, she’s such a good player when she has that mindset of going and attacking a game really well.

“And when you have two players like that in your team with Bunny alongside as well, it really helps.”
