Demi Stokes expressed her personal pride at reaching 200 appearances for City despite a penalty shootout defeat to Leicester.

The City defender came on as a second half substitute as the Blues were held to a 2-2 draw, before the penalties ensued.

The Foxes came out on top to secure the bonus point but, despite the result, Stokes was pleased to reach her latest milestone after making her long awaited return from injury.

She said: “When you’ve been out of it for such a long time you do miss it.

“I was happy to make my 200th appearance. I’m happy to reach it.”

On the game itself, she added:

“We gave ourselves a lot to do but the second half was better.

“At that point, you have nothing to lose, so great character to get it to 2-2, but unfortunate with the penalties.

“I think you go into every game to win and that’s what we’ll go to do, you let the rest take care of itself.

“We want silverware, no matter the competition and we’ll do that.”
