Joleon Lescott and Nedum Onuoha tipped Caroline Weir's Manchester Derby wondergoal as a potential Goal of the Season winner.

The Scotland Player of the Year lit up Derby Day once again with yet another moment of magic to seal an unforgettable win, planting an exquisite chip over Mary Earps for our third of the night.

Purring over the sensational strike on our We’re Not Really Here live matchday show before the men’s game against Tottenham Hotspur, both Lescott and Onuoha admitted they could not believe their eyes, hailing Weir’s incredible technical ability.

“She was the stand-out performer,” Lescott reflected. “You could see: her technique was different but that doesn’t surprise me.

“She got one last year in the Derby as well - a clean strike.

“To score that goal in a Derby as well, it could be Club Goal of the Season.”

Onuoha agreed: “It’s one of my goals of the season, full stop.

“Most people aren’t thinking about chipping it from there! Most people can’t chip it like that at all!”

The victory lifted City above United in the FA Women’s Super League table, as Gareth Taylor‘s side sit just two points behind leaders Chelsea with the pair set to meet in a crunch clash at the end of April.

Lescott and Onuoha discussed the quality within the squad and also shared their experiences of working within women’s football, praising the work female players put in on and off the pitch to raise the profile of the game.
