Gareth Taylor‘s side endured a tough start to the campaign but have enjoyed an upturn in fortunes since December, winning our last six on the bounce to climb the FA Women’s Super League table and secure a spot in the Continental Cup semi-finals.
Greenwood, who amassed 50 appearances for the Club in last weekend’s win over Aston Villa, has been a key positive influence, featuring in every single game and earning praise from her Head Coach for her conduct and professionalism throughout.
Reflecting on her achievement and the team’s impressive run, Greenwood says the squad are now starting to find their best form and come out the other side of a testing period.
“Over the last couple of weeks since the break and the two games before then, we’ve played really well,” she told mancity.com.
“We’ve found our rhythm and found our feet. It’s helped having players back, although we lost a few to COVID-19, but everyone is really confident at the moment and in really good spirits.
“It’s been a good time and that reflects in our training sessions as well. They’re a great group of girls and we all get on really well.
“We’re harsh on each other when we need to be - there can be harsh words but we have a comfortable dressing room to do that because it comes from a good place.
“We enjoy the good moments together and stick together when it’s not so great. We’ve been through a tough period where the team has been been tested the most.
“From the outside, it might look like the team has lost its way but we’ve pulled together and it’s reflecting now in our performances.”
The squad return to action on Sunday night with a crunch clash against league leaders Arsenal at the Academy Stadium.
Though City lost heavily in the reverse fixture against the Gunners earlier in the season, Greenwood asserts revenge is not the priority.
“We’ve got to put that game to bed,” she added. “It’s gone. It’s in the past and we can’t change it.
“We have to concentrate on where we are now and focus on Sunday. It’s a massive game but it’s just another game - one we’re fully ready for and focused on and we have a lot of confidence on the back of good performances and results.
“We’re really looking forward to it. It’s a good opportunity to see where we’re at - not so much ‘revenge’ as we’ve put that game behind us but it’s a good test for us to see where we’re at, at this stage of the season.
“We prepare for every game the same - it’s not a case that we do more or less whether we’re playing a team at the top or the bottom of the table.
“We know that they have strong individuals and collective, and they’re top for a reason: because they’ve performed the best so far this season - but based on that, we can take a lot of confidence from our last few games and put it on display on Sunday.”
