Go behind the scenes as City ended our pre-season tour of Asia with a friendly against Atletico Madrid in Seoul.

After victories over Yokohama F. Marinos and Bayern Munich in Tokyo, we flew to South Korea to face the Spanish giants at the capital’s World Cup Stadium.

Our last meeting with Diego Simeone’s team was in the quarter-finals of the 2021/22 Champions League, when we won 1-0 on aggregate across the two legs.

This game would take on a much different feel, with both sides preparing for the new campaign and seeking to impress the excited locals.

Support for City in Korea had been outstanding and it continued in this game, with the stands filled with sky blue shirts.

However, there was a period when the match was in jeopardy. A deluge throughout the evening left the pitch waterlogged, but exceptional drainage ensured a game could be played.
