Manchester City and Real Madrid are among the two best sides in the world and Rodrigo says they are coached by probably the two most successful managers.

Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti go head to head in the Champions League for the third time in three seasons with the quarter-final first leg on Tuesday at 20:00 (UK) at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The pair are the two most recent winners of the trophy with Madrid winning the year before our triumph in Istanbul last season.

Rodri is in his fifth season under Guardiola, winning every major trophy available, and says the manager is a leader when the big games come around.

“What can I say about Pep!” he said. “You watched it in the last few years.

“You are talking about maybe the two most successful managers in this tournament in Ancelotti and Pep.

“They have their own styles but two winners in their own way and what can I say about Pep, he is our manager he is our leader.

“Tomorrow as always we need the best of him - in terms of the speech, the tactics and the positive energy. It never goes down, the importance of this manager for us.”
