Meanwhile, back in 2014...

Whilst severe thunderstorms were forecast and would delay proceedings in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, it was City who blew the Italian giants away in the International Champions Cup, finding ourselves four goals ahead inside 26 minutes.

Stevan Jovetic opened the scoring just after the 10-minute mark, firing a clinical first-time finish in at the near post having been threaded through by Jesus Navas.

The lead was doubled just two minutes later, Scott Sinclair plucking Gael Clichy’s searching cross out of the air before finding the top corner.

Number three followed midway through the half, Navas’ acrobatic effort from a tight angle taking a deflection to wrong foot Rossoneri stopper Michael Agazzi.

And in a mirror image of City’s first two goals, another followed Navas’ strike almost immediately with Kelechi Iheanacho picking up a loose ball before firing a vicious effort towards goal that was too hot to handle for Agazzi.

Milan skipper Sulley Muntari reduced the arrears on the stroke of half-time with a simple tap-in, before the deteriorating conditions forced a 20-minute delay ahead of the restart.

However, once play resumed, City picked back up where we left off, with Jovetic adding his second and City’s fifth before the hour when he stole in ahead of Rami before finishing on the half-volley.
