It’s a tough first encounter for Maresca’s men against a dangerous Porto team who have established a fine home record in the Champions League of late.
And assessing the game at Monday’s pre-match press conference, the City boss made plain his admiration for our opponents.
“It’s a hard place to come; a difficult place to come,” Maresca pointed out.
“They have started really well. In the last 14/15 games in Europe they lost just one, that shows a difficult place to come but we will try our best and try to win the game.

“It’s a very, very good team. They have different players but in terms of the team it’s very clear in the way they play.
“They are aggressive without the ball and on the ball, they have a clear style.
“But we will try our best and try to win the game. The ambition is the same - try to be ourselves and to win games and then we will see.”
