Pep Guardiola says City are ‘incredibly committed’ ahead of Saturday's clash with Brighton and is confident his squad won't be distracted by the looming prospect of next month's World Cup finals.

The reigning Premier League champions will be looking to get back to winning ways after a first loss of the season away to Liverpool last weekend when we host the Seagulls.

Brighton will provide another tough test for Guardiola’s side but the City manager is confident that his players will be fully focused on the task at hand.

And with the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar now just a month away, Guardiola also rejected suggestions that any members of his squad could be distracted by the looming showpiece.

INJURY UPDATE: STONES, PHILLIPS AND WALKER LATEST

Asked how he would respond if he suspected anyone had one eye on next month’s tournament, the boss declared: “He will not play.

“The smelling (about their focus) I am pretty good. Tactics I am not, but the smelling I am really good. Also he will get injured when he is not ready.

“When you are focused you do not get injured. When we are incredibly committed, we do not get injured.”
