Nedum Onuoha believes Newcastle will be determined to get a good result at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday to boost their top four hopes.

City know the challenge that Eddie Howe’s side pose having had to fight back for a 3-3 draw at St James’ Park back in August.

However, the Magpies have faltered in recent weeks having only won one of their last seven Premier League fixtures.

They also come into Saturday’s match off the back of last weekend’s Carabao Cup final defeat.

But, as Onuoha pointed out on Matchday Live on Wednesday night, they have still lost the fewest matches in the Premier League this season.

“The frustration for them is they are not putting the ball in the goal at the moment,” said Onuoha.

“But they have still got the best defensive record. Their season is still very much focused on them finishing in the top four. Everyone of these games will essentially be a cup final.

“I’m sure there will be 100% commitment from them and the travelling fans they bring, who will be very, very loud.”
