Nathan Ake has been impressed with new boy Jeremy Doku’s ‘promising start’ to life in sky blue, insisting the pace ace is proving to be a menace for opposition defences.

Doku joined us from Rennes, arriving alongside Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes in the summer transfer window.

He’s already scored two this term, his latest in our last match after coming on as a substitute in the 3-1 UEFA Champions League victory over RB Leipzig.

But more than goals, Doku has looked direct, dangerous and deadly in forays down the flank.

He’s impressed supporters and teammates too, according to Ake, who assessed the winger on the eve of our exciting encounter away at Arsenal.

“He’s a fun character. Everyone likes him already in the changing room,” Ake told us.

“For me, it’s easy to chat to him because he speaks Dutch. We can have good conversations.

“Overall he’s a very nice guy and I think that makes it easier to settle into the team.

“Every time he’s played, he’s done really well.

“He’s so dangerous, he always creates something or chaos for the defence or opportunities for us, a good goal the other day so I think there’s only more to come.

“But the start is very promising.”
