The Blues made it seven wins in seven Premier League matches under Enzo Maresca thanks to a Phil Foden strike and Erling Haaland brace.
In doing so, Maresca has now set the record for the longest winning run at the start of a managerial reign in the competition.
City were made to work for our latest three points though, with Daizen Maeda briefly restoring parity after Foden’s opener in the first half, before a late Zian Flemming penalty set up a nervy finish at the Etihad Stadium.
But the Premier League leaders were full value for the victory, with Haaland’s header from a Mateo Kovačić cross building on Foden’s smart first-time finish to hand us a half-time lead.
The Norwegian added his second and City’s third after outmuscling Abdul Ouattara, and could even have had a hat-trick but for the offside flag.
Iliman Ndiaye also struck the crossbar and Enzo Fernández was denied by Christian Walton among other late opportunities for the hosts, before Flemming’s penalty completed the scoring as stoppage time loomed.
