Liam Delap feels he is in the perfect environment to develop as a footballer after signing a three-year contract extension at Manchester City.

The striker, who scored on his first team debut against Bournemouth last season, has agreed a deal which keeps him at the Club until the summer of 2026.

Delap has enjoyed a remarkable rise since joining as a scholar in the summer of 2019, making three senior appearances and scoring 24 goals in 20 games to fire the Elite Development Squad to the 2020-21 Premier League 2 title.

His development has been exceptional, which he believes is a result of feeling at home at the City Football Academy.

“I fit in here,” he said.

“I feel like everything has kind of fallen into place and that progress has been down to all the coaches, all the players, helping me get through that.

“It’s incredible. The best players in the world; being able to train with them every day as a young player, you learn so much and gather so much information from them to improve your game.

“I think I have matured a lot. 12 months is a long time and you can learn a lot.

“My overall game has improved in every area. Being around the best players just helps you.”
