Mateo Kovacic was impressed with City's character, determination and fighting spirit to come from a goal down to defeat Luton 2-1 in the Premier League at Kenilworth Road.

Elijah Adebayo headed the hosts ahead before the interval, but Pep Guardiola‘s men were clinical in the second period to claim all three points, with the goals coming from Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish.

Kovacic, who played 83 minutes of the encounter, hailed the importance of the win and the character shown by the players to fight back.

“Big three points. We showed overall great football, especially in the first half, we played very well, we found a lot of players in the pockets which is what we want.

“We had half chances. We maybe missed the final touch. We showed great character, as this team has shown over many years now. It’s a big three points for us.

“We played overall very good, when you do your thing and insist, the goals come. We could have scored even more, but I’m happy with the three points.”

The Croatian also spoke about the tough challenge provided by the Hatters and touched on the importance of players stepping up in the absence of Erling Haaland.
