Juanma Lillo believes new recruits Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes will enjoy plenty of success during their time at Manchester City.

With legendary figure Ilkay Gundogan leaving the Club and Kevin De Bruyne out for a few months with a hamstring injury, City midfield has taken on a new look in the early part of the season.

Kovacic has been an ever-present so far since his summer move from Chelsea, and Lillo believes Nunes can have a similar impact to the Croatian after joining the Club from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Indeed, our assistant coach insists that their unique qualities have injected a fresh impetus into the City squad as we look to build on last season’s remarkable achievements, which ended in securing the Treble.

“Each person has their own individual qualities,” he explained in his pre-match press conference.

“And one of these in both those players is that [bringing something new to the team].

“Then after that when you look at this context and the development they have, in terms of developing play, they also add other types of qualities.

“One is already playing, one is going to come to us. I think they will represent a great deal for the team.”
