Doku has now arrived back in Manchester and penned his new five-year deal after an extended break following his World Cup exploits with Belgium.
The Red Devils went out at the quarter-final stage in the US, Canada and Mexico before the wing wonder took a month off to rest and recuperate ahead of the new season.
He’ll now be joining a squad with a new boss in Enzo Maresca, new signings in Elliot Anderson, Jeremy Monga and Gerónimo Rulli as well as star names who have also extended their stays with the Blues in Phil Foden, Josko Gvardiol and Abdukodir Khusanov.
It all points to a fresh era and Doku is excited for what’s to come.
“The players have signed, a lot of them, for example, Josko, I came with him I remember the same season,” Doku said.
“Signing young guys as well shows what they have in mind as well for the future of this club. And unbelievable players as well.
“So I’m excited for this new group as well, new players, I’m excited to work with them, to meet with them, and to train and play with them.
“And just excited for this new season overall.”
