The City boss. fresh from his fourth successive win, highlighted the Portuguese side’s recent record in the competition as a measure of the victory.
“I’m very pleased with the performance - this is a difficult place to come - the last 15 or 16 games in Europe here they have lost only once, which shows how tough it is to play here,” he said.
“I was very happy with the performance and I think we did more than enough to win the game tonight.
“Now it’s a matter of recovery and then we prepare for Sunday’s game.
“I’m very excited for that - but first recovery.”
