Jeremy Doku has praised City's mentality after bouncing back from successive Premier League defeats with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Brighton.

Pep Guardiola‘s men came into the encounter after defeats against Wolves and Arsenal before the international break.

Doku, who was named Player of the Match after a sublime display, set up the opener after just seven minutes, driving at the Seagulls’ defence before cutting the ball back for Julian Alvarez to fire in.

Erling Haaland added a second shortly after to double the lead, with Ansu Fati pulling a goal back after 73 minutes.

Doku stressed the importance of the three points and hailed the mentality of the team.

“I’m happy with the result. After some difficult results we had in the past weeks. It’s important mentally and I hope we can keep going like this,” he said.

“It was very important. Not only for the table but jut for us in our heads. It was a difficult game but we’re a good team, the best team for me.

“We have to prove it every time we’re on the pitch. Today we did it.

“It wasn’t a 5-0 game, but 2-1. Some games are like this, difficult. But we kept on going even with 10 against 11 at the end.

“We showed we’re there. Mentality also. Aggressive. I’m happy about that.”
