Lewis, still only 21, will embark on his fifth senior campaign with his boyhood club in 2026/27 and already has 116 appearances under his belt.
The versatile youngster, also capped five times by England, is looking to impress the new manager as pre-season gets underway in earnest against Inter on Saturday.
“It’s been good, the people are all really lovely and the training has been enjoyable,” said Lewis.
“There’s a good flow and structure to the training sessions - everyone seems to know what they are doing - it’s all gone well.
“In football, there’s only so much you can change in a short space of time, but what the manager had brought in, it’s been really good.”
And as a leading Academy graduate, Lewis has been impressed by the teenagers who have travelled on tour to Asia.

“You can probably label City’s Academy as one of the best in the world - and that shows when they come through to the first team, because they train so well, have a good understanding and technical ability and you can see that from the first few training sessions we’ve had,” he said.
“As for myself, I feel good. Much of the off-season I was training, and I didn’t have much of a break because I wanted to stay in shape. I felt good then and I feel good now and I feel as good as I can do.”
Lewis will look to get vital minutes under his belt against Inter, who he believes will be the ideal test to kick-off our pre-season matches.
“The opening game in pre-season is always a big game because that’s the first time you see the new ideas we’ve been working on in training,” he said.
“They are a top team, and it will be a difficult game for sure.”
And on John Stones signing for Inter, he added: “John was an unbelievable player for us - and a legend for us - and I’m made up for him, he’s got a nice move to a great team and I’m over the moon for him because it’s nothing he doesn’t deserve.”
