Enzo Maresca’s men tried to find a leveller, with two good chances for Iliman Ndiaye and a Nico O’Reilly header the best of a collection of efforts for the hosts.
There’s a chance to bounce back quickly, though, with a UEFA Champions League clash at RB Leipzig coming up on Wednesday.
