The Club’s charity, City in the Community (CITC), has sat down with four of their community coaches who have progressed through the BTEC and Degree programmes to gain paid employment.

Over the next few weeks, CITC will be sharing their stories across its social media channels in a new series, ‘Studies to Staff.’

The first episode in the ‘Studies to Staff’ series heard from Beth who studied on both the BTEC and Degree CITC courses before gaining part-time employment on their Early Years programme.

Commenting in the video Beth said: “I first started on the BTEC programme when I was sixteen. From there I gained volunteering experience, which later allowed me to then become a young leader.

“From there I was able to continue studying my degree and later gain employment with CITC.”

BTEC PROGRAMME

The BTEC programme provides an opportunity for students who are passionate about football and their education, to combine the two as part of the course.

The curriculum provides students with an insight into what life would be like coaching in an academy session, through the way in which CITC staff deliver sessions.

The team currently delivers in four sixth form and colleges, Oldham College, Cheadle College, Ashton Sixth Form and Connell College.

DEGREE PROGRAMME

The sport coaching degree programme is delivered in partnership with the Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU).

The programme brings together CITC’s community football coaching knowledge with Manchester Metropolitan’s academic expertise, to offer the best of both worlds and an integrated path to rewarding career goals.

The BSc (Hons) and FdSc Manchester City Community Football Coaching programme is designed to give students a unique opportunity, by matching MMU’s academic expertise with the facilities, experience, and know-how of City in the Community.
