Aquarius Centre, which benefited from investment as part of the charity’s Healthy Goals initiative, will now be home to new weekly sessions by the CITC Outreach team, extending the portfolio of Kicks sites across Greater Manchester.
Michael Geary, City in the Community CEO commented on the site becoming a Kicks location saying: “Having sites like this where we can deliver Premier League Kicks is amazing. It’s a really inviting space and that kids will want to come to.”
Aquarius Centre is one of five pitch transformations have been made possible through joint investment from Manchester City Council and CITC.
Commenting on the pitch and opening event, Councillor Shazia Butt, Executive Member for Culture, Leisure and Libraries, said: “We know there is a growing demand for activities, places for our youth, for families to come and enjoy and that’s why we chose Hulme Aqarius Centre, for our Hulme residents.”
The five sites were selected following collaboration with Manchester Active, using local insight and data to identify areas where investment in accessible community sports provision could have the greatest impact.
All five facilities are free to access, helping to create safe, welcoming spaces where local people can enjoy football and physical activity close to home.
Healthy Goals was first launched in May 2023 and has since transformed 14 community football spaces across Greater Manchester.
Premier League Kicks is made possible by funding from the Premier League Foundation.
