Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has praised City’s defence of the Champions League in the first part of his annual interview – and says our quarter-final exit will make us hungrier to reclaim the trophy next term.

Sitting down with Chris Bailey on Saturday 1 June for his regular end-of-season debrief, the Chairman pointed out that City didn’t lose a single game in the 2023/24 edition of the UCL, losing on ‘the jeopardy of penalty kicks’ to eventual winners, Real Madrid.

He stressed that the ‘flip of a coin’ defeat to the now 15-time champions Los Blancos only gives Pep Guardiola’s men ‘more hunger and more tenacity’ for next season.

The Chairman also discussed the history-making Four-in-a-Row Premier League achievement, his desire to add another title to the tally next season, how it’s hard to put into words the impact of Guardiola at City as well as revealing two examples that show the highly-decorated manager’s influence can be felt off the field as well as on it.

He also spoke of his admiration for Premier League and FWA Player of the Year Phil Foden and how he got a pre-match teaser of the playmaker’s wonderful opening goal in the crunch West Ham clash on the final day.
