He won the penalty early on for Erling Haaland to calmly dispatch, before striking a stunner into the top corner to restore our lead after the hosts had levelled through Carlos Vinicius.

The wonder-strike proved to be the winner in a tense encounter and the Argentine was pleased that the team fought through some difficulties to claim the points.

He said:

“We knew it would be tough today and a real battle, so we’re really happy to be able to get the three points.

“That’s what we wanted right from the off. We’ve had some really important games recently, now it’s on us to keep on working.

“We’ve been winning a lot of games in a row. We can’t dwell on what we’ve done in the past.

“It’s time to focus on the games coming up.”
