The holders gained the perfect start, as Ederson denied Jorginho and Ilkay Gundogan sent Kepa the wrong way.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Sergio Aguero were then successful with their spot-kicks, with the pendulum swinging in Chelsea’s favour when Emerson converted before Kepa thwarted Leroy Sane.

However, David Luiz then struck the post to restore City’s advantage, and Bernardo Silva stepped up to put Pep Guardiola’s men in control.

Although Eden Hazard clipped his penalty into the back of the net with a cheeky ‘panenka’, City found ourselves one goal away from securing the trophy. Up stepped Raheem Sterling to smash home emphatically and attain Carabao Cup glory once again.

Another wonderful day to live long in the memory. We’ve compiled a video of the day, bringing together media soundbites before and after the game, as well as previously unseen footage
