In Los Angeles, Young Leaders hope to improve the lifestyles of children.

It’s a city with a passion for healthy living, but 30% if young people are overweight or obese and as a consequence, are more likely to develop non-communicable diseases like diabetes at a younger age.

Nineteen-year-old Brian and other Young Leaders from the Healthy Goals project are aiming to address this issue through football.

Utilising a regenerated pitch in East LA, these Young Leaders are using the beautiful game to engage kids, with activities which teach them to be physically active will simultaneously teaching valuable information about health and nutrition.

“The goal is to get kids to be more active,” said Brian.

“So that through the nutritional side of soccer and their health, it becomes a habit where people want to eat healthy.”

This project is delivered in partnership with East LA Rising, and generously supported by Nexen Tyre.
