Patients at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital received a big festive surprise as Manchester City players turned up with hundreds presents on their annual Christmas visit.

Hundreds of presents were delivered to some of the North West’s bravest youngsters on Manchester City’s annual Christmas visit to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Captains Vincent Kompany and Steph Houghton led the way as the players split into small groups and hand delivered gifts to every child in the hospital.

There was an extra special treat for five lucky football fans too, who teamed up with Kompany, Houghton and Pep Guardiola for a City themed table football tournament.

The visit forms part of the Club’s long-standing relationship with the hospital and this season patients have taken part in the official team photo, enjoyed VIP matchday experiences and met the squad during special wish granting days.

“This is my ninth visit to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and every year I’m blown away by the spirit and bravery of all the young people we meet,” said Kompany.

“It’s a difficult time of year to be spending in hospital, but the staff and volunteers do an amazing job and hopefully the children have all enjoyed today.”
