In his first Manchester derby, Lauris Coggin and his young blues began the game with a good energy which was matched by United.
And as chances fell for both sides, it really could have gone either way with possession flipping from the home side to away.
But it was City who eventually managed to break the deadlock on 66 minutes and who other than Teddie Lamb.
Jake Wain drove down the right and played a pinpoint, low cross into the box which fed Lamb perfectly as the number nine tapped the ball into the back of the United net just after the hour.
City showed immense passion as we dominated play for the final 20 minutes.
But two vital saves from Ben Vickery were needed as we claimed the bragging rights.
