Elite Development Squad skipper Shea Charles said leading City to a historic third straight PL2 title had capped a weekend to remember for the Club.

A dominant 3-0 win at Blackburn was enough to confirm us as champions for a third season in succession – the first time any club has achieved that feat.

That followed hard on the heels of our Under-18s clinching the Premier League North title on Saturday before our first team then reached the FA Cup final.

A second half brace from leading scorer Carlos Borges allied to a first half Dire Mebude penalty was enough to secure a 16th league win of the season to ensure the crown remained at the Academy Stadium.

And for Northern Ireland international Charles, who has led the side with aplomb this term, it set the seal on both a season and weekend to savour.

“It has been a great weekend! I was a bit nervous watching the Under 18s yesterday but it was good to see them do it,” Charles reflected.

“We’re all so excited. To win three titles in a row shows how far we have come.

“When I was given the captaincy at the start of the season it was the aim to win the title and to win it the way we have is so satisfying.”
