Kian Noble says head coach Ben Wilkinson made a half-time team talk that inspired not only him but the entire team in City’s 4-0 FA Youth Cup win over Leeds United.

Second half goals from Justin Oboavwoduo, Jaden Heskey, Stephen Mfuni and Matty Warhurst saw City lift the prestigious trophy for a fourth time in the Club’s history at the Etihad on Friday evening.

After an intense but goalless first half, City knew they were going to need to up the intensity in the second half in order to beat an organised Leeds side.

And Noble attributed the top-class second half performance to Wilkinson’s inspirational half-time team talk.

“This is a moment you dream of really,” said Noble after the celebrations had simmered slightly.

“We know the prestigious-ness of the competition and Ben went through the history of our club in the competition and it just drove me on.

“And I think I helped drive the rest of the lads on I think because it was a tight game in the first half and Ben’s words really motivated me personally and I’m sure it did with the rest of the lads too.”
