It was a fast start with goals for both sides inside the first ten minutes of the contest.
AEK opened the scoring through Dimitrios Sioutas with a clinical finish but City fired back an instant response through Teddie Lamb.
The Blues dominated possession for the remainder of the contest but couldn’t find the necessary second to win the game.
To their credit, the Greek outfit – who had begun their campaign with a win and a draw before their trip to Manchester – were defensively resilient and determined as Oliver Reiss’s side looked for another goal.
Dexter Oliver had a couple of late opportunities but in the end we had to settle for a point.
In order to qualify for the knockout stage of the competition, Reiss and his team will need to place in the top 22 of the 36-team league.
We currently sit 31st with three games remaining – away clashes against RB Leipzig and FC Barcelona punctuated by a home clash with Napoli.
