Elite Development Squad Lead Coach Oliver Reiss said City’s Under-19s side didn’t do enough in front of goal to grab the win following a 1-1 draw with AEK Athens in the UEFA Youth League.

It proved to be an exciting head-to-head at the Joie Stadium as AEK were first to pounce in front of goal through Dimitrios Sioutas on five minutes.

City fired back an instant response as Dexter Oliver fed the ball into Teddie Lamb to blast across goal and past the ‘keeper.

The Blues dominated possession throughout and carved out several chances to nab all three points but the Greek outfit proved difficult to break down.

At full-time, Reiss revealed his frustration that his side couldn’t find the necessary moment to win the game.

“I’m disappointed today, of course,” he said.

“The result is not what we wanted to have.

“The performance was okay, but we were again not good enough to create bigger chances out of our possession.

“We have to create much better chances to score.

“Again more than just one goal.

“It was possible in terms of the performance, but just close to the last third and then there was a lack of ideas, of creativity, of opportunities to create better chances.”
