After weeks of intense pre-season work on the City Football Academy training pitch, Andrée Jeglertz’s team took centre stage on Sunday afternoon for our 2026/27 curtain raiser against Birmingham City.
The reigning WSL champions received an incredible welcome by the Cityzens as we looked to kickstart our title defence with a positive performance.
But standing in City’s way was a newly-promoted Birmingham side who had bolstered their squad over the summer on the back of winning the WSL 2 title.
The West Midlands outfit travelled north determined to put an early bump in the road for City, so who claimed the three points on the opening weekend of the WSL?
