We welcomed the Seagulls to the Etihad Stadium with a quarter-final place up for grabs.
The only previous League Cup meeting between City and Brighton was in the second round in 2008-09; after a 2-2 draw at the Withdean Stadium, the Seagulls won 5-3 on penalties.
We’d reached this round with a comprehensive victory over Championship side Norwich City, while Brighton defeated Manchester United to get to this stage.
City are defending champions having lifted the trophy for a ninth time back in March.
